Gov't briefed on new city project

AMMAN — The Cabinet on Wednesday was briefed by the consulting company of Dar Al-Handasah on the construction project of a new city that aims to accommodate the steady population increase, especially in Amman and Zarqa, the project of which the company has been designing basic features over the past ten months.اضافة اعلان

The new city project will be built - if a decision is taken regarding it - within the borders of the capital governorate, on lands wholly owned by the state treasury, and located 40 kilometers from central Amman, 33 kilometers from Queen Alia International Airport, and 26 kilometers from Zarqa.

The site of the new city project is part of the Jordan Badia lands, and it is located on two international roads linking Jordan with Saudi Arabia and Iraq, with total area estimated at 277,000 donums, upon completion.

In the meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, the Cabinet referred the study on the new city project to the Economic Development Committee for discussion and consultation with relevant stakeholders and experts, and the committee shall develop a detailed report to the Cabinet within a month to consider and decide on it.
