Friday’s conference, under the patronage of Jordanian National Committee for Women's Affairs Chair Princess Basma Bint Talal, is part of the government's efforts to push forward the political and economic reforms.

Secretary-General of the Jordanian National Committee for Women's Affairs Maha Ali stressed in a speech the importance of the conference at this “important” stage of reform and development in Jordan’s path of progress in political, economic and public sector reform.

Ali said that the committee is looking forward to implementing the national strategy for women in Jordan 2020–2025, in a holistic and inclusionary approach with the government, the private sector, civil society institutions, and other stakeholders.

She said that despite Jordan’s many legislative achievements in empowering women, there are still many challenges to address, including increasing women’s economic contribution, enhancing their political participation, and increasing their access to decision-making positions.

Minister of Social Development and Chairperson of the Ministerial Committee for the Empowerment of Women Wafaa Bani Mustafa stressed the importance of building on national efforts to empower women in cooperation with national institutions and civil society organizations.

Bani Mustafa said that Jordan has made "great" achievements and noted that she hopes for more achievements in the future.
