received 15 beds for newborns, according to hospital Director Sadiq Al-Atoum,
Al-Mamlaka TV reported on Tuesday.

The beds, donated by the Atfaluna Foundation, allow the hospital
to provide an additional service for newborns, keeping them near their mothers
during the “golden hour”, or the first hour after birth, he said.
“During the golden hour, it is preferable for babies to
stay close to their mothers because of future psychological effects,” Atoum
noted.
Previously, at birth, newborns at the hospital were sent
to a separate room, and were not kept close to their mothers except when being
fed, he said.
