AMMAN — Director General of the
Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) Nizar Muhaidat said that the
administration, through the Directorate of Medical Supplies and Devices, has
taken a number of measures to enhance the monitoring and tracking of the
process of importing and trading medical supplies and devices in a manner that
ensures that their use is limited to duly licensed institutions, and their safe
circulation, in order to preserve the health and safety of users, Al-Ghad News
reported.

Muhaidat indicated that the administration has taken
several strict control procedures in this regard, and decided not to complete
any import invoice for laser devices of all kinds except after obtaining
approval from the Directorate of Professions and Institutions Licensing at the
Ministry of Health, to ensure that laser devices are used only in licensed
beauty centers.
He added that the administration has emphasized to
importers of medical supplies, including of sterilizers and antiseptics, the
need to keep import invoices and sales lists for all imported medical supplies,
and filler injections, which specify the party to which it is sold, to ensure
that it is used only by those authorized to use these types of medical
supplies.
The JFDA also told producers and importers of
cosmetics that they need to provide it with a waiver, signed and certified by a
bank, in the event a request to transfer an agency for cosmetics and
pharmaceutical cosmetics is submitted.
At the same time, there is need for continuous
monitoring and inspection campaigns of places dealing with supplies, medical
devices and cosmetics, be they institutions, points of sale or clinics,
Muhaidat said.
