In a statement, the syndicate asked all
drivers to de-escalate the situation and put the nation’s interests and people
first, citing the global economic crisis as the reason.
It stated that the truck drivers’ demands are
legitimate and constitutional in light of the increase in oil prices. However,
they said that the strike should not exploit the needs and demands of the
country.
The syndicate said that it is waiting for
solutions from the competent authorities in hopes of suspending the strike and
finding a suitable solution. It also asked workers in the transportation sector
to present their demands to competent authorities in a civilized manner.
