AMMAN — The
Cabinet mourned the death of
three police officers who were killed Monday during a raid on the hideout of a
man suspected of killing a police colonel while on duty in the southern
Maan governorate a few days ago, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The three officers were identified as Cpt. Gaith
Rahahleh, Lt. Mutaz Injada, and Cpl. Atef Shaqareen.
The prime suspect was killed in the raid and several
others were arrested, an earlier statement issued by the Public Security
Department informed.
The Cabinet extended heartfelt condolences to the
families of the officers who, it said, “fell in the line of duty while confronting
murderers, criminals, saboteurs, and adherents to takfiri ideology”.
The Cabinet vowed that there will be no tolerance
for those who violate security, assault security personnel or public or private
property, or take advantage of any situation to create disorder and intimidate
the general Public.
Several other private and public sector figures and
entities mourned the killing of the three officers, local media outlets
reported.
Senate President
Faisal Al-Fayez, stressed that
Jordanians must not allow criminals and murderers to sow discord, and said on
Al-Mamlaka TV: “I extend my deepest condolences and sincere sympathy for this
great loss to His Majesty the King and to the families of the martyrs and the
security services that watch out for our security and safety”.
Fayez called for rallying around the Hashemite
leadership, the security services, and the armed forces, as “there are parties
seeking to sow discord and make this country unstable and insecure”.
Amman Mayor Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, and the Greater
Amman Municipality Council and its affiliates, mourned the “martyrs of duty and
protectors of the homeland” who died defending the country’s stability and
security.
The
Irbid Governorate Electricity Company,
represented by its board of directors and General Manager Bashar Al-Tamimi and
the company’s employees mourned “with an outpouring of feelings of sadness and
sorrow the martyrs of the homeland from the Public Security Directorate”.
The chairman and the Board of Commissioners of the
Independent Election Commission (IEC) and its employees also mourned those who
fell in the line of duty while protecting the homeland from saboteurs and
criminals.
The
Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA),
represented by its President Hamdi Al-Tabbaa, members of its Board of
Directors, the General Assembly, and the Jordanian business community also
mourned “the martyrs who joined a constellation of martyrs of the homeland
while carrying out their official duty”.
The Jordanian Evangelical Council of Churches also
expressed condolences and sympathy to the Jordanian families “whose sons died
as martyrs of duty in a confrontation with the Takfiris who do not belong to
the homeland”.
A statement signed by the head of the council,
retired Major General Imad Al-Maayah, said that al churches in the council
“shares the pain of the one Jordanian family for the loss of our righteous
sons, victims of terrorism and extremism, offers condolences to all the
families of the victims and wish speedy recovery to the injured”.
