AMMAN — President of the University of Jordan Nazir Obeidat said the university’s 60th anniversary celebration is canceled, in mourning for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) officers who were killed in the line of duty, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.

Obeidat offered condolences, on behalf of the university, to the families of the three PSD personnel on Monday morning.

The National Center for Disease Control announced that it was postponing the launch of its first strategy for another day, also in mourning for the “martyrs” of the security services.

Three police officers were killed on Monday and five others were injured during a raid on the hideout of a man suspected of killing a police colonel while on duty in the southern Maan Governorate a few days ago.

According to a statement issued by the PSD, the suspect was killed during the raid, and eight others were apprehended.

The suspect is allegedly responsible for killing Col. Abdulrazaq Dalabeeh, the assistant director of the Maan Police Directorate, while officers were responding to riots in the Hussainiya district of Maan, according to the PSD.
