AMMAN — As the new year begins, multiple cold
fronts are predicted to hit the Kingdom, including below-normal temperatures,
several periods with high chances of snow, and a continuation of the rainy
conditions witnessed in past weeks, according to WASM, a Jordan-based
weather technology company.

Jordanians should also be on the alert for periodic frosts
and freezing temperatures, the company said, advising the agricultural and
electricity sectors to take “the utmost precautions” from the beginning of
January through around February 10 due to frosts and increased electricity
consumption, Khaberni reported.
WASM predicted that Jordan will be hit with rain and
very cold temperatures over the coming days, followed by a long-impact polar
front from January 6–22, peaking from January 11–20. During the cold spell, the
chance of
snowfall will be very high in several regions.
Another polar front featuring high precipitation
levels is expected to hit the Kingdom at the end of January, continuing into
early February, WASM added.
The company urged Jordanians to keep abreast of
weather updates, especially those related to torrential rains and flooding, and
to follow the cautions of the
Jordan Meteorological Department and the
instructions of the Civil Defense and Public Security Directorates.
