AMMAN — The world's largest
floating book fair, the Logos Hope, docked at Aqaba port on Wednesday, laden
with 5,000 books on various scientific, literary, and intellectual topics, the
Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The ship will open its doors on Thursday,
selling books at low prices and giving away souvenirs such as bags, cups, pens,
medals, and bracelets.
The 132-meter ship, managed by a German
non-profit organization, aims to spread "knowledge and hope" in each
port it visits. It chose Egypt’s Port Said as its first destination in the new
year, followed by Aqaba.
The ship has visited more than 480 ports in
150 countries worldwide, opening its gangways to some 49 million book
enthusiasts over 13 years, with a mission to provide a culturally rich
experience and foster intercultural connections.
