The convoy was sent by the Hashemite Jordanian Charity Organization in implementation of the Royal directives and in coordination with the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army, according to a statement from the organization.

The Jordanian ambassador to Damascus, Anwar Badawi, said in a statement, as reported by the Syrian Arab News Agency, that the convoy consisted of seven trucks carrying food, medical, and hygiene supplies.

He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Badawi also emphasized that Jordan, its government, and its people stand in solidarity with the people of Syria.

The Syrian Red Crescent has begun unloading the aid at the border crossing and will transport it to its intended recipients with their own trucks.

Last Monday, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, causing widespread destruction, death, and injury. Aftershocks from the earthquake were felt in neighboring countries including Lebanon, Iraq, and Egypt.

Rescue work is still ongoing to search for survivors under the rubble.
