AMMAN — Forbes Middle
East has released its annual list of the 100 most powerful businesswomen in the
region for the year 2023, among them five Jordanian businesswomen, Ammon News
reported.

The list highlights
businesswomen
who are driving the success of a group of the largest companies in the region
and beyond.
“Women in the Middle East and
North Africa today lead some of the largest companies in the region, with some
also making their mark internationally,” the Forbes announcement said.
The list features “the most
powerful businesswomen” from 27 nationalities, working in 27 different sectors.
First place on the list went to Hana
Al Rostamani, CEO of First Abu Dhabi Bank Group, the
UAE’s largest, with total
assets of $312.4 billion as of September 2022. The bank also recorded net
profits of $2.98 billion in the first nine months of 2022, according to Forbes.
The UAE and Egypt scored the most
entries at 15 and 12, respectively, followed by 11 from Saudi Arabia, eight
from Kuwait, and six each from Lebanon, Qatar, and Oman.
The banking and financial services
sector dominated the list with 23 entries, followed by 11 women leading
diversified businesses, eight from the
investments sector, six from the retail
sector, and five from healthcare.
Distinguished
JordaniansOne Jordanian businesswoman — Randa Sadik, CEO
of
Arab Bank — was one of the list’s top names, coming in tenth. The bank has over
600 branches across five continents, and had assets worth $64.7 billion as of
September 2022, according to Forbes.
Arab Bank’s net income also
witnessed a large growth during the first nine months of 2022, jumping 49
percent from 2021 figures to reach $405.8 million.
Other Jordanian names on the list included
Nadia Al-Saeed, CEO of
Bank Al-Etihad (44th); Farah Hamdan, regional general
manager of Zimmer Biomet (67th); Manal Jarrar, CEO of the National Insurance
Company (85th); and Luma Fawaz, CEO of Oasis500 (94th).
