Spokesman for the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Sinan Majali warned in a statement that such Israeli
measures could lead to further escalation and violence, urging the
international community to take swift and decisive action to put an end to such
practices, which “threaten to undermine all efforts to bring about peace and
security”.
Majali affirmed that
expanding settlement construction and displacing Palestinians from their homes is “a flagrant
violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions”,
foremost of which is the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2224.
He stressed that the unilateral breaches
carried out by Israel, as the occupying power, such as building and expanding
settlements, confiscating lands, and
displacing Palestinians, are illegal,
rejected, and condemned practices that represent “a serious violation of
international humanitarian law”.
Such moves, he said, undermine the
foundations of peace, efforts to resolve the conflict and achieve a just and
comprehensive peace, and the chances for a two-state solution based on
international legitimacy resolutions.
