AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister
of Local Administration Tawfiq Kreishan confirmed that the issue of stray dogs
is a concerning issue and the ministry is giving it great importance.

He added that while it is not
possible to establish a shelter for stray dogs in every municipality, as there
are 100 municipalities and it would be financially burdensome, the ministry is
working in coordination with donor countries to establish a shelter between
every three to four municipalities.
Jordanians have consistently taken
to social media platforms, calling on the government to address the problem of
attacks by stray dogs.
The demand has assumed more urgency
after the recent increase in such attacks, with people accusing the government,
represented by the Ministry of Local Administration, of staying completely
silent and doing nothing about the crisis, especially when it comes to
children.
Breeding controlOn Saturday, the Ministry of Local
Administration said that breeding control as the most practical solution to the
persistent problem of stray dogs in the Kingdom.
However, the cost of building and
equipping a shelter and clinic, estimated at between JD75,000 and JD100,000, is
posing a major obstacle to implementation.
