US National Security Advisor
Jake Sullivan
said in the statement "We recognize that this meeting was a starting point
and that there is much work to do over the coming weeks and months to build a
stable and prosperous future for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
Implementation will be critical."
On behalf of US President
Joseph Biden,
Sullivan extended thanks to His Majesty King Abdullah for convening the
meeting, and to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for efforts during recent weeks
to establish the conditions for its success.
This was the first meeting of its kind in
years, with regional and international participation, to discuss the situation
in the Palestinian territories. The five parties agreed to convene again in
Sharm El-Sheikh in March.
