AMMAN —
Jordan should expect another increase in fuel prices, since the government has
previously declared that hikes in the price of oil derivatives will be gradual,
oil expert
Amer Al-Shobaki said, according to a local media outlet.

Khaberni quoted Shobaki as saying that the
government’s decision began since the announcement on fuel prices for May was
announced. He explained that the upward trend is expected to continue,
considering that the government insists on imposing taxes.
In June, an increase between JD0.035 to 0.05 is
likely, Shobaki said.
The selling price of 90-octane gasoline sells at
JD0.885 per liter, and the liter of 95-octane is JD1.12.
Shobaki indicated that about JD0.140 is taxes levied
on each liter of 90-octane gasoline, and from JD0.35 to JD0.40 on each liter of
octane 95.
As for diesel and kerosene, Shobaki pointed out that
the government does not levy taxes on both supplies, virtually making their
prices partly subsidized. He explained that the global price of diesel fuel and
kerosene are approximately JD0.80 without taxes, while both are sold at JD0.65
per liter locally.
Shobaki stressed that a reflection of international
prices and taxes will make prices unbearable and unacceptable to citizens, and
that the price of a tank of diesel may reach JD20, and 90-octane gasoline
JD22.5, and JD27.5 for 95-octane gasoline, which are much higher than before.
Shobaki said there are indications that the prices of oil
and oil derivatives will continue to rise until the end of the year due to the
Russian-Ukrainian war, as well as the ensuing sanctions on
Russian oil, and the
emergence of a new energy map in the world.
