AMMAN — An interactive digital map of the
geographic distribution of the Kingdom’s mineral resources, as well as of
potential areas for gas and oil exploration went live on Monday, according to
the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The map, accessible at
https://memr.tiny.us/47es2ps8, provides information and a graphical
representation of the potential locations of 13n mineral ores that are
available for investment,
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh
Kharabsheh said. These include basalt, bentonite, chalk, copper, diatomite,
dolomite, feldspar, gold, gypsum, kaolin, phosphate, pure limestone, and silica
sand.
The minister said that the map will serve as an
integrated website that will allow potential investors to explore the
opportunities in the mining sector of the Kingdom with minimal effort and in
the shortest amount of time.
The map features a window for the oil shale, indicating
locations, where it can be utilized for power generation or cement production,
Kharabsheh noted. He explained that the map contains technical reports and
studies for each mineral, including estimated commercial quantities and other
technical details that will help investors assess the feasibility of investing
in the Kingdom.
