AMMAN — Head of the Livestock Breeders Association Zaal Kawalit said that the prices of local and imported meat in the local market started to go up before Ramadan, with the price of a per kilo of live sheep increasing by half a dinar and that of a kilo of lamb by JD1, according to Jo24.اضافة اعلان

Kawalit said that the increase in prices can be attributed to the high prices of fodder globally, to drought in sheep-breeding areas, which led to dependence on imported fodder, and to the increase in the number of livestock deaths.

The price of a kilo of Romanian meat rose by half a dinar due to the high costs of transportation, he said.

Kawalit added that 340,000 sheep were imported for the local market during the first quarter of this year, which helped stabilize the market.
