AMMAN — Jordan’s volume of trade with
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states reached JD2.804 billion in the first
half of 2022, up from JD2.044 billion in the same period last year, according
to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Jordanian exports to GCC nations increased in the
first six months of 2022 to JD635 million from JD612 million in the
corresponding period of 2021.
During the January–July period of 2022, Jordanian
imports from GCC countries jumped to over JD2.169 billion, compared to nearly
JD1.432 billion during the same time the previous year.
The Kingdom’s largest trading partner within the GCC
was Saudi Arabia. During the reporting period, Jordanian-Saudi trade totaled
JD1.85 billion, an increase of more than JD400 million over the JD1.42 billion
recorded during the same period in 2021.
The balance of trade is heavily skewed in favor of
Saudi Arabia, which shipped JD1.46 billion worth of goods to Jordan during the
six-month period, compared to JD390 million imported from Jordan.
The Kingdom’s trade with the UAE totaled JD679
million, of which JD592 million represented imports from this Gulf Arab state
and JD87 million represented exports.
A total of JD65 million was exchanged in trade
between Jordan and
Qatar, of which JD55 million was in exports to Qatar and
JD10 million in imports.
Trade with Kuwait reached JD111 million, of which
JD59 million was Jordanian exports and JD52 million were imports.
A total of JD40 million was the volume of trade
between Jordan and Oman, of which JD23 million was exports to the Sultanate and JD17 million
imports from Oman.
Trade with
Bahrain totaled JD59 million, of which JD21
million represented Jordanian exports and JD38 million represented Bahraini
exports.
