Another 7.5-magnitude earthquake hits Turkey, Syria — JSO

AMMAN — The Jordanian Seismological Observatory (JSO) has reported another earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale in southern and central Turkey. The earthquake occurred at exactly 1:25pm today.اضافة اعلان

Syrian state media have also said that Damascus was also affected by the latest quake, although not much details were given. 

The observatory said that the earthquake had a depth of 10km, according to Khaberni.

This is the second large earthquake to strike Turkey and Syria less than 12 hours after the first.

The combined death toll from the first quake in Turkey and Syria has already risen to over 1,200, according to latest updates. 

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan described it as the country’s largest disaster since 1939, reported The Guardian. He said that 912 people had been killed, with 5,383 wounded.

Syria’s state news agency reported that more than 320 died, with over 1,000 wounded. 

The White Helmets rescue service has also reported that 147 people had died and more than 340 were injured in Syria in areas where it operates.
