Amman, Jordan - May 2024: Princess Basma bint Ali, the
esteemed founder of the Royal Botanic Garden, paid a visit to the Al Ameed
Coffee factory located in Al-Qastal area. During her visit, she toured the
production facilities with the aim of enhancing the partnership between the
company and the Royal Botanic Garden to achieve common objectives in
environmental conservation and sustainability.
Princess Basma engaged in discussions regarding the potential implementation of sustainability initiatives and the transition towards a green economy within our society. She also shared her experiences and expertise in this field, emphasizing the optimal utilization of resources and the reduction of negative environmental impacts through the adoption of sustainable production practices and effective waste management.
In response, the company's General Manager, Basel Daher, affirmed the company's steadfast commitment to establishing strategic partnerships with national institutions to achieve environmental sustainability and cleaner production. He highlighted the company's adoption of innovative methods to reduce and reuse waste, as well as the embrace of non-traditional solutions to address today's challenges.
He also expressed the company's anticipation for further opportunities to collaborate and acquire knowledge with the Royal Botanic Garden in the near future.
Additionally, Princess Basma was briefed on the recycling plans implemented at the factory, aiming to maximize resource utilization. She also learned about leveraging the factory's diverse outputs, such as coffee chaff and jute bags, through the development of advanced technologies to convert coffee chaff into materials used in various industries, including insulation materials and organic fertilizers, thereby contributing to waste reduction and more efficient utilization of natural resources.
