AMMAN — A recent opinion poll showed that 48 percent of Jordanians are considering
emigrating, with 93 percent attributing these considerations mainly to
economic conditions, Khaberni reported.

In the
poll, conducted by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, Jordanians
ranked first in the Arab world in terms of thoughts of emigration, with the
largest percentage of those wishing to
emigrate falling in the 18-29 age group,
at a rate of 63 percent.
Among Jordanians considering
resettling abroad, those with university degrees outnumbered those with no
advanced study certificates, at 55 percent.
Sudan came in second in the Arab world
in terms of the number of citizens looking to emigrate, at 46 percent. This was
followed by Tunisians at 45 percent and Lebanese at 38 percent. Meanwhile, Egypt
came in last in the Arab world, with only 13 percent of citizens
considering emigration.
