AMMAN — Jordan’s courts dealt with
16,760 cybercrime-related cases involving 20,259 people over the past four
years, according to statistics obtained by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, from
the Jordanian Judicial Council.

Since 2019, 13,108
cybercrimes were recorded that directly violated the law, and 3,652 other crimes were
recorded that involved the use of
technology, the data showed.
With a total of 11,926 cases, online
defamation was the
most common cybercrime during the past four years, followed
by criminal threats, indecent assault, indecency, fraud, economic crimes, and
pornography.
The courts also addressed many cases
related to hacking electronic systems and malicious eavesdropping.
