AMMAN — The head of the Lower House Legal Committee, Ghazi Al-Thunibat, emphasized that the government lacks options but to extend the defense orders, due to the large number of individuals with enforceable judicial sentences for bad check-related cases alone. اضافة اعلان

According to Thunibat, over 34,000 individuals would be subject to arrest if the defense order were lifted.

The government, he said, is facing a crisis and has no choice but to extend the defense order in light of the increasing number of those wanted for debt cases. He also mentioned that the government is looking for solutions to prevent the imprisonment of debtors.

"Under the new defense order, the government might go towards reducing the ceiling for those who would be exempt from prosecution from JD100,000 to JD50,000," Thunibat said.

The proposed reduction in the ceiling for those exempt from prosecution is aimed at finding a solution to the crisis and preventing the imprisonment of debtors.
