AMMAN — The General Assembly of the
Jordan Engineers Association (JEA) has approved amendments to the pension fund
system proposed by the association.

The results of the vote were announced
by the chairman of the supervisory committee overseeing the voting process,
Ahmed Al-Ghazo. Out of a total of 3,435 engineers who participated in the vote,
2,274 voted in favor of the amendments, a local media outlet reported.
Voting processRegistration for the General
Assembly and the vote on the amendments was open from 10am to 2pm, with 3,687
engineers registered to participate.
The general assembly had discussed
the amendments prior to the voting boxes being opened, with the voting process lasting
from 3pm to 6pm.
‘Saving the fund’JEA President Ahmad Samara Al-Zoubi
expressed thanked the General Assembly for its vote in favor of the amendments
and for taking responsibility for participating in saving the fund.
He noted that with the approval of
the amendments by the General Assembly,
the association completed an important
and critical stage in the process of approving the amendments and sending them
to the government authorities for approval.
Expedite retirement proceduresZoubi also highlighted that an
executive plan had been developed to expedite procedures to put the retirement
fund on the right track, along with a series of austerity measures approved by
the
council of the association, restructuring the management of the retirement
fund, and the investment policy of the fund.
These measures would help the fund
continue to fulfill its obligations to retired colleagues.
