AMMAN — The
Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) sent a new seven-truck aid convoy to Syria on
Thursday under Royal directives to aid survivors of the devastating earthquakes
that recently ravaged Syria and Turkey, the Jordan News Agency, Petra,
reported.

The trucks were loaded with food and
medical supplies and were dispatched via the Jaber Border Crossing, a statement
by the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said.
In a statement on Thursday, the
JHCO said that it has dispatched five humanitarian aid convoys over the past week to
earthquake survivors in Syria, and has stressed that it will continue relief
operations over the next few days.
The five convoys included 35 trucks that
were handed over to the
Syrian Arab Red Crescent and
UN agencies based in the
country. The trucks carried blankets, mattresses, and medical and food
supplies, according to the lists of needs published by the Syrian authorities.
Financial, in-kind donationsThe
JHCO has received additional financial
and in-kind aid, which will be sent in relief convoys over the next few days,
said the organization’s Secretary-General Hussein Shibli.
In-kind donations currently requested by
earthquake survivors are family tents, power generators, folding beds, heaters,
pillows, clothes, winter shoes, lamps, and food containers. Also on the list
are respiratory devices, first aid bags, resuscitation equipment, rescue
equipment, oxygen cylinders and masks, ambulances, and surgery tools.
