AMMAN — Jordan ranked fifth
in the Arab world and 82nd globally in terms of social progress, according to
the 2022
Social Progress Index.

The index, which is one of the
world's largest curated collections of social and environmental data, measures
the social performance of 169 countries fully and an additional 27 countries
partially, using 12 components and 60 indicators.
According to the data, carried by
Khaberni, Jordan scored 67.3 out of 100 points.
The index is the only measurement
tool to focus exclusively and comprehensively on the non-economic dimensions of
social performance across the globe, with transparent and actionable data.
Regional rankings
Kuwait ranked first in the Arab
world and 55th globally, scoring 74 points. The UAE came in second, scoring
70.7 points and ranking 68th globally. Tunisia ranked 72nd globally with a
score of 69.7 points, followed by Oman (80th globally) with 67.7 points, Jordan
(82nd globally) with 67.3 points, Lebanon (89th globally) with 66.4 points, and
Qatar (90th globally) with 66.4 points.
Algeria followed as 95th globally
with 65.5 points, then came Palestine (97th globally) with 65.1 points, Morocco
(100th globally) with 64 points, Saudi Arabia (101st globally) with 63.8
points, Egypt (113th globally) with 58.7 points. Somalia ranked 165th globally
with a score of 35.8 points out of 100.
The
Social Progress Index is
designed to help individuals understand how people living conditions across the
globe, while focusing on how to accelerate progress.
The index is based on 164,000
carefully selected pieces of data collected over the last 12 years, vetted, and
brought together using a unique methodology, according to the report.
