AMMAN — The
Jordanian Medical Association (JMA) issued a statement refuting reports that the recognition of
the Jordanian Board from various countries is being withdrawn, according to
Khaberni.

The JMA stressed that the Jordanian
Board remains highly respected and appreciated in Arab countries and around the
world, the statement said. With decades of experience and competence, Jordanian
doctors have always been a source of pride for the countries in which they
work, the statement added.
Independent decisionsSome Arab countries have reviewed
their accreditation criteria and set specific requirements for the evaluation
of board certificates issued by other countries,
according to the JMA.
The reclassification of the
Jordanian Board is an independent matter for those countries and is respected
by the association,
the JMA added.
MisreportedThe statement also said that the
Jordanian Board, like others, has undergone a reclassification but it has not
been withdrawn from recognition, as was reported by some media.
The JMA will continue to monitor any
decisions made by any party that may harm or affect the reputation of the
medical and Jordanian physician at the local and Arab levels, the statement
said.
Ziad Zoubi, head of the Jordan
Medical Association, previously stated on Sunday evening that Qatar had
withdrawn recognition of the Jordanian Medical Board and classified it as level
three, the lowest in the classifications approved in the Gulf States.
He added that doctors with the
Jordanian Board must now take a Qatari board exam or receive an Arabic board to
be recognized for their specialization.
Zoubi also said that Saudi Arabia
downgraded the Jordanian Board, classifying Jordanian board doctors who
graduated three years ago as "qualified residents" unless they
received the Arabian board and were reclassified as "consultants".
