According to a statement issued by the
Public Security Directorate on Tuesday, agents from the Kingdom’s
Anti-Narcotics Department have been investigating the local branch of the group
— which has connections to a larger regional smuggling network — for the past
three months.
The agents were able to track down the
members of the smuggling ring and the locations where they had stashed drugs in Amman, Mafraq, Zarqa, and Russeifa district, according to the statement.
After simultaneous raids of the ring's
hideouts, five people were detained, four of them nationals of other Arab
countries, and the drugs were seized.
