The ship will open its doors to the public on the second day of its arrival till February 15 and will sell books at nominal and reduced prices. The books in the library will cover various scientific, literary, cultural, and other themes including children’s books.

The director of the floating library project in Jordan, Jabulani Mlambo said in a press statement, Monday, that "Logos Hope's sister ship, Dolous Hope, visited the port of Aqaba in 2005, and received about 33,000 visitors.”

“It is expected that Logos Hope will receive 60,000 visitors," he added.

Mlambo added that the ship, which is 132m long, is the largest floating library in the world, and is managed by a non-profit organization based in Germany, which aims to spread knowledge and hope in every port it visits.

The organization has been operating similar ships since 1970, and has received more than 94 million visitors, he said, pointing out that the Logos Hope ship has visited more than 480 ports in 150 countries in the world, and in 13 years it has received about 49 million visitors on board.

“Sharing knowledge, offering help and hope" is the ships’ slogan.

The ship's crew, about 400 volunteers from about 65 countries, receive visitors in every country in which it docks, and some of them wear their traditional national attire.

The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority has prepared a program to receive the ship as soon as it arrives with folklore shows, reflecting the identity of the coastal city and the richness of its historical past.
