During a ceremony on the sidelines of the
Jordanian-Iraqi Business Forum in Baghdad, attended by Iraqi Minister of
Industry and Minerals Khaled Najm, Shamali said the bid will be available for
Jordanian, Iraqi, and global companies to participate in the border city
project.
The Iraqi market is second on the list of
Jordanian export partners, he noted, adding that trade between the two
countries jumped by 62 percent during the first ten months of 2022.
Various economic cooperation prospects
exist for the two nations within Jordan’s renewable energy, mining, information
and communication technology, healthcare, and tourism sectors, the minister
said, emphasizing the government's commitment to facilitating Iraqi investors'
access to the local market.
The visit of the Jordanian private sector
delegation to Iraq also affirms the business community's commitment to
strategic ties between the two nations, he added.
The
Jordanian delegation to the forum includes
representatives of the foodstuffs, communication and information technology,
medicine, garment, financial, and banking sectors, as well as educational
services, insurance, construction, contracting, real estate, tourism,
agriculture, mining, and plastics.
