AMMAN — According to an
Israeli news outlet, the occupation forces are preparing for a “real escalation” in the
lead-up to the month of Ramadan, which will begin in a month and a half.

These measures follow a recent assessment
conducted by the
Israeli security forces showing that the number of warnings of
clashes with Palestinians has tripled in recent weeks compared to the same
period last year.
The Israeli outlet attributed the spike in warnings
to the increased activities of the Israeli armed forces in recent weeks in the
West Bank, including in Jenin and Jericho.
Israeli deploymentsOne preventive measure that the
Israeli forces intend to take during the next month is to reinforce field deployments,
according to the news outlet.
During the next two weeks, the occupation
army will deploy additional field offensive units “in order to thwart clashes”,
the Israeli outlet stated. In the two weeks following, as Ramadan draws near, two
or three reinforcement battalions will be added.
The main fears of the Israeli forces are
that clashes during the month of Ramadan will expand beyond the borders of the
West Bank and also reach Jerusalem — where the activities of the
Israeli forces could further escalate the situation, the outlet said.
Far-reaching concernsFears of an expected escalation prevail not
only among Israelis, but also within the US administration, which recently sent
a delegation of officials to the occupied Palestinian Territories to meet with
both sides and encourage de-escalation.
The head of the CIA, William Burns, who visited
Israel two weeks ago, warned last week that the tensions between Israel and the
Palestinians resembles the violent period that preceded the Second Intifada.
