AMMAN —
Several deputies demanded the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador from Amman in
response to the Israeli minister of national security, Itamar Ben Gvir,
storming Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif on Tuesday, local media outlets
reported Wednesday.

The deputies
demanded the expulsion during a legislative session; the deputies were: Khalil
Atiyeh, Raed Al-Dahrawi, Ahmed Al-Sarakah, Saleh Al-Armouti, Ahmed Aasha, Firas
Al-Ajarmeh, Suleiman Al-Qallab, and Aref Al-Saaideh.
Jordan summoned the
Israeli ambassador in Amman on Tuesday and handed him a letter of protest over
the storming of Al-Aqsa.
During the same
session, MP Muhammad Al-Dhahrawi demanded that the
Israeli ambassador be faced
with new measures.
MPs Adnan Mashuqa
and Khaled Hassan supported the Jordanian position and the Hashemite
Custodianship over Jerusalem’s holy sites while warning of the danger of
Israel’s actions in
Jerusalem.
Representative
Muhammad Al-Shatnawi emphasized that harsh measures must be taken against
Israel, stressing that Palestine is for all Arabs, Muslims, and Christians.
Shatnawi also voiced support for His Majesty King Abdullah.
Meanwhile,
Lower House Speaker Ahmed Al-Safadi said that the House supports the government’s
decision to summon the Israeli ambassador to protest against the storming of
Al-Aqsa Mosque and the provocative practices that stir tension in the region.
This insult and
desecration of the holy land, he said, is no longer acceptable, describing the
Israeli government as a "government of terror".
He added that
"the Israeli occupation holds no sovereignty over the Islamic and Christian
holy sites in
occupied Jerusalem".
"We will
remain behind His Majesty King Abdullah, the guardian of the holy sites, so
there is no compromise on Jerusalem, and the right of Muslims and Christians in
it is eternal and historical," he added.
