The case, which was committed in 1987, involved the murder of a foreign worker of Arab nationality.

According to a statement by the Public Security Directorate spokesperson, a body of an Arab foreign worker was found killed by two gunshot wounds at a construction site north of the capital 35 years ago. The assailant’s identity remained unknown.

CID personnel reinvestigated the cold case and found a suspect — a worker at the same site. They then arrested the suspect and conducted further investigations.

The suspect confessed to the murder, stating that he killed the guard because he was attempting to stop him from stealing building equipment and materials at night.

The case was referred to the Grand Criminal Court, which decided to detain the killer at a correctional and rehabilitation center on charges of premeditated murder.
