According to the study, carried by
Khaberni, foreigners (expatriates and immigrants) make up 34 percent of Jordan's
total population, which is more than one-third.
In the same report, Jordan ranked
seventh among the Middle East in the same classification.
The UAE topped the list with the
highest percentage of
foreign population compared to the total population in
the world, at 88 percent, meaning that only 12 percent of the population are
UAE nationals.
Qatar came in second, with the study
showing that three out of four people in the emirate are migrants. The
country's high percentage of foreign workers has led to a severe demographic
imbalance, according to the study, with around 75 percent of Qatar's
population
being male.
While Middle Eastern countries
dominated the list, Singapore had the highest percentage of foreign residents
from outside the region, ranking seventh at 43 percent of the population,
followed by Australia in ninth place globally at 30 percent of the
total population.
Even though the US is out of the top
20 on the list, it has the largest number of immigrants compared to any other
country, estimated at 50 million. Germany comes after with an estimated 16
million.
