AMMAN — Preliminary financial statements of
Royal Jordanian airlines show that the company recorded net losses of JD79.1 million
last year, an increase compared to losses sustained in 2021, which totaled
about JD74.3 million, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

The
statements also showed an increase in the company’s
revenues — from JD357 million in 2021 to JD611.8 million in 2022 — at a growth
rate of 71 percent.
Meanwhile, the company's operations and
operational performance indicators also witnessed a significant improvement in 2022, as the
company transported 3 million passengers compared to 1.6 million passengers in
2021, an improvement of 91 percent, and the aircraft filling rate increased to
77 percent compared to 68 percent for the previous year.
New destinations, high fuel pricesThe number of flying hours and take-off times increased by
60 percent, as most of the destinations to which operations were suspended
during the COVID-19 pandemic were reactivated, in addition to the operation of
flights to new destination — the airline flew to
48 destinations during 2022,
compared to 32 stations during 2021.
The company indicated that the increase in fuel prices by 69
percent during 2022 led to an increase in its oil bill by JD97.8 million
compared to the previous year, and fuel costs accounted for 50 percent of the
variable operating costs for the year 2022 compared to 37 percent for the year
2021.
