“Out of a position of concern for Jordan in
the face of the
Zionist entity, which today is represented by a fascist
government whose only concern is the implementation of subjugatory and racist
colonial ideology,” the signatories said, “we are following with great care the
positions emanating from… that government in the form of hostile stances
towards Jordan and violations of its security and stability.”
The most prominent violations, they said,
have been "provocative" statements made by
Israel’s representative to the
United Nations, and National Security Minister
Itamar Ben-Gvir’s “storming of the Temple Mount”.
According to the statement, the
declarations, positions, and practices of the Israeli right “leave no room for
doubt concerning the reality of the extreme Zionist right’s agenda for its
dealings with Jordan and the Palestinian cause in the near future.”
The declarations, positions, and practices of the Israeli right “leave no room for doubt concerning the reality of the extreme Zionist right’s agenda…”
They also reflect “the magnitude of the
dangers that come with the fascist right’s control over the executive and
legislative authorities of the
Zionist regime,” the statement said.
‘Jordan is not a weak link’The signatories affirmed that Jordan holds
"many legal,
political, and strategic papers — both official and popular —
to confront (this government) and put an end to its goals."
"Jordan is not a weak link… on which
pressure can be exerted, and it is not vulnerable to the conspiracies or shady
plots carried out by the fascist Zionist right, which adopts the so-called ‘Jordanian
Option’ as a cover for the conspiracy of settlement,” they said.
The signatories expressed appreciation for
the Kingdom’s official position condemning the
Zionist attacks in Jerusalem and
at Al-Aqsa Mosque, and its actions to confront them politically, legally, and on
the grassroots level.
They emphasized "the importance of
unifying official and popular positions, strengthening the home front in the
face of imminent danger, and adopting firmer positions in the face of inflammatory
Israeli behaviors and the threats of the most extreme, racist right-wing
fascist government in the history of the Zionist occupation."
Jordan’s ‘essential’ custodianship roleThe signatories also confirmed Jordan's
“authentic and essential” role in overseeing holy places in occupied Jerusalem,
safeguarding them from Israeli plans and Judaization schemes.
"Any targeting of the Jordanian custodianship
over the holy sites or any attempts to harm or desecrate them, whether by
visiting those holy places, performing prayers in them, or imposing a situation
in the city that contradicts them, constitutes a new, hostile step that will be
met with Jordanian, Palestinian, Arab, and international rejection, and confrontation,”
they said.
Defending Jordan, defending PalestineAmong the signatories to the statement are
three former officials, 22 current and former deputies, f
ive secretary-generals
of current and former political parties, six professional heads and heads of
sports clubs and associations, two military retirees, four tribal sheikhs, 16
university presidents and professors, 27 media professionals, and 25 political
activists.
"Jordan is not a weak link… on which pressure can be exerted, and it is not vulnerable to the conspiracies or shady plots carried out by the fascist Zionist right”
The signatories announced that the statement
is open for signatures to all Jordanian national figures. They called for as
many signatures as possible in order to send “a strong message to the Zionist
right about the strength of the Kingdom and the rejection of all Jordanians of
any threats to their homeland”.
“We are determined to exert
every possible effort to defend Jordan out of concern for Palestine, and to defend Palestine
to protect Jordan, its existence, and its national identity,” the statement
concluded.
