AMMAN — The
Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) on Thursday sent a new 14-truck convoy of relief
aid to earthquake victims in Syria, which will be delivered to the Syrian Arab
Red Crescent, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The JHCO stated that the convoy is
transporting blankets, mattresses, power generators, foodstuffs, and medical
supplies, which were dispatched according to a list of needs received from
disaster management authorities in Damascus.
JHCO Secretary-General Hussein Shibli
expressed appreciation for the role played by the Kingdom’s public and private
sectors in delivering financial and in-kind aid to earthquake survivors.
This was the fourth convoy sent this week, and a total of 75 trucks have been dispatched to Syria since the start of the relief campaign.

Senate donationIn a related development, Jordan’s Senate
donated JD40,000 in humanitarian aid to Syria to support earthquake survivors.
The sum was provided to the JHCO, which is the sole entity in Jordan currently
responsible for raising and delivering aid as part of the earthquake relief
response.
A Senate statement issued on Thursday said the donation was raised through the
Senate’s Social Responsibility Fund, which makes monthly deductions from
senators' salaries.
